A compilation of essays by Dennett about a good variety of topics, from neurosci to philosophy of language and everything in between. Be warned, it’s a bit tough for the layman, so I’d recommend Consciousness Explained first. But if you can handle it, this book is a gem. Good science, good writing, and just good overall. This collection of essays is just a sketch of where Dennett’s head was at in the 90s.
So it’s wonderful for a historical perspective on how Dennett’s ideas developed over time, but rather unremarkable otherwise. Unless you enjoy the history of ideas, I recommend just reading Dennett’s other books instead.
Philosophical essays spanning several decades of Dennett’s thought.
