F2L combines steps 2 and 3 of my beginner solution, but it requires approximately the same number of moves as step 3 alone. Both algorithms solve the F2L pair and use the same number of moves. – CFOP – First 2 Layers (F2L)

Mostly, people learn 1-look PLL before 1-look OLL, as there are fewer of them to learn and they are more easily identified. At this pace, you remove the temptation to focus only on the pieces that you are currently applying an algorithm to, and you can easily be wlgorithms at the rest of the cube to find the next F2L pair.

You might think that this sounds quite challenging, and you’d be right. That’s why there’s a big scary table of algorithms lurking on the algorithms pagebut because we’re using our clever 2-look shortcut, you only need to know the following seven.

Fridrich (CFOP) Method

Don’t worry if you struggle! However, you may find other algorithms better-suited for your own hands, so it is recommended to try many different algorithms for the same situation to find which one works best for your own style of cubing. The goal of many F2L algorithms is to get the algorithm and edge into this case and then solve them with this trigger. Using this algorithm is much faster, as it makes a cross in one go. I shall now try to explain some further concepts that you can use to improve your F2L.

I know, I know, I said that F2L should be solved intuitivelyand that you shouldn’t algorithmd on a big table of algoritms. Use the empty slot to break up the pair such that the corner and edge are opposite each other and then place the pair. This is a fantastic resource for beginners.
